Hi,
I did top this morning and saw that the idle figure was wildly fluctuating
between 80 and 98%. I noticed one 5 sendmail processes and one in particular
to "cd.gov.ab.ca.: user open" had been running for approx 170 hours and was
taking up to 15% of CPU. BTW I have no idea who or what "cd.gov.ab.ca."
is...
I tried
/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail restart
but the processes remained.
Then I stopped sendmail, and after a short while restarted it.
Now a ps -aux shows the following sendmail entries - with one of the same
addresses as before...not sure about the others...
root 9618 0.0 0.5 2616 1360 ? S 13:30 0:00 sendmail:
accepting connections
root 9620 0.0 0.5 2652 1476 ? S 13:30 0:00 sendmail:
q1/g64I58A02882 mail.altomedia.co.kr.: user open
root 9622 0.0 0.5 2652 1456 ? S 13:30 0:00 sendmail:
q3/g64D0UX23544 cd.gov.ab.ca.: user open
root 9623 0.0 0.5 2652 1480 ? S 13:30 0:00 sendmail:
q4/g64IPs208509 lser.com.: user open
I thought perhaps I was being used as a mail relay so I checked my server
address on http://www.abuse.net/relay.html, Relay test result: All tests
performed, no relays accepted.
I'm not sure if this is a problem but I would be grateful for some advice.
Kind regards,
Liam Delahunty
