Thanks for your email. Here is what I see when one of the users in question
tries to login to send mail and it fails:
Jun 16 22:21:47 cobalt in.qpopper[5223]: (v?) POP login by user "mike" at
(x.x.x.x) x.x.x.x
Jun 16 22:21:52 cobalt in.qpopper[5224]: (v?) POP login by user "mike" at
(x.x.x.x) x.x.x.x
Jun 16 22:22:09 cobalt in.qpopper[5244]: (v?) POP login by user "mike" at
(x.x.x.x) x.x.x.x
Sorry not very informative but if it was easy I doubt I would be so
frustrated.

SSH into the box. Then:
# tail -f /path/to/logfile.name
(i.e. "tail -f /var/log/maillog")
