Hm. There were a few revs of the OSRCD that the shell login thing doesn't
work from (at least nobody I've ever found in the engineering group knew
what the password was). There should not be a password required - putting
in "root" for the user should just get you a prompt.
I think I've gotten around this in the past by manually editing /etc/passwd
once I ripped the OSRCD image to my hard drive (so it would be in
/home/osrcd/etc/passwd on the hard drive).

Yes, there are a few files on the CD which don't correspond to the ISO-9660
standard (the filename is too long or something). There's nothing to worry
about, as a translation table is created per the ISO-9660 spec.
