How are you sending email through the server? How are you connected to
the Internet?
Can you send mail from the server while using a shell connection, using
the "mail" command?
Have you done any tests of sendmail, as described in various sendmail
resources, such as the "sendmail" book from O'Reilly?
What error messages do you get?
