No clue. I think it's because the web installer (the "correct" way to
install :) ) parks the downloaded PKG in a temporary location, and then
processes it. If it left the PKG behind, and then another one was
downloaded for install, it might have problems determining which was the
newest PKG. Or it might be to simply save disk space. I haven't
scrutinized the CGI, so I don't know exactly what it does step by step.
