LOM.... mmmm.... tasty.
I for one am looking forward to SPARC/Solaris influencing Cobalt.
As much as I prefer BSD-style *ix over SysV-ish, Solaris has
several nice touches. (And Linux isn't terribly BSD-ish itself,
particularly not RedHat.)
Don't get me wrong on Linux. I've used it on production servers
for five or six years. But "ask for Linux by name cuz it's kewl"
just doesn't score many points on the due diligence scale.
That said, this message contains very little in the way of useful
content. For reasons similar to Bruce's, please look at Sun's
site for more information on Solaris. Track FreeBSD-current for
information on one flavor of BSD.
Unix is still Unix... many flavors, cross-breeding in curious
ways.
