The problem is just that a hosting company can tell you
everything you want to hear. If they do it on the end
is another question. In most cases you even can not see
the location. All what you see is a colorful webpage.
Also it is getting pretty much rediculous since one reseller
is reselling the service from another reseller and you don't
even know about it. Maybe somebody is hosting your server somewhere
in a basement? Or in a cabin in the woods? Who knows? If you go with
an local ISP you can see everything, you know the people and
in most cases they give you more then you are asking for.
UPS? Unlimited. Backup power? Unlimited. Technical support? I talk
with the sysadmin/owner 24 hours a day if i want.
So, why should i pay a lot of $ to a reseller who resells from another
reseller if i can have a direct connection across the street?
