It won't have anything to do with the software running on the server, just
the kernel.

There is a limit and I'm pretty sure it's 255 (2^8 - 1). To verify, open
the shell using SSH and do:
touch <filename>
where filename is a really long filename. Copy paste 1234567890 to help
make the math easier.
