Configuration settings in what? Your email program?

One thing, though it shouldn't matter here; if your username is mike
then you don't need, and shouldn't have, an alias for mike.

My mistake <frown>... please do:
# ls -al /home/spool/mail/mike
and let us see the results.
Also:
ls -al /var/spool/mail/mike
and let us see the results.

We need to see the entire output of the ls -al command.
