Don't hold your breath for Perl upgrades on the older platforms
(especially the ones like RaQ3/4/XTR that are more "hard wired" than
Qube3/RaQ550)... :)

What many end up doing is just installing "another" Perl someplace
(e.g., /home/perl) and use that for all their own Perl stuff...

If you know where the version x.y_z is relative to the authors/id/
directory, you can do this (assuming author is BAR):

install BAR/foo-x.y_z.tar.gz

and that will grab the specific version x.y_z. Or you can always
download the tarball and do the manual "perl Makefile.PL; make; make
test; make install;" install of the older version.

Obligatory inclusion for me when giving out hints/tips/etc., since I
work for Sun, and some folks in the past have construed my comments on
this list as "The Gospel" that will be supported when they call the 800
number for help.
