I don't think many people do use it - I've never seen a Sun or Cobalt
package that used it - I think it was something they included the
ability to do but never really used. However some companies/people have
used sometimes unwittingly as it comes as part of the package template
for the RaQ's someone did a php package for RaQ3's a while ago and got
slammed on one of the lists for using it and not telling anyone that it
sent info back also www.solarspeed.net use it in their free packages but
they do declare it on the website. I think the fact that it happens
behind the scenes is what people don't like as opposed to a registration
form also it does send quite a lot of info back about the system its
being installed on whether any of that is useful to someone to do bad is
questionable.
I only included it my mail as I was refining the solar speed site as an
alternative and therefore I wanted to stop the question to me before it
started as to whether we did the same.
