Not really. In the mid 1980s, Radio Shack was the largest provider of *ix
operating systems with their Model 16/6000 running Xenix, and look where
that got them (of course extreme mismanagement of their computer marketing
people didn't help :-). The computer industry in the U.S. is full of the
corpses of companies that have built their businesses on *ix platforms, but
haven't survived for one reason or another.
