We had a technician come from Arizona to work on our SCO OpenServer
Unix 5.x. He installed his stuff and as soon as he rebooted some
odd errors came up. He was there for hours and hours to trouble-shoot.

One minute it works fine, as soon as he rebooted, hell-broke loose.

Over the weekend, I locked myself out. IPChains. A reboot took
care of the problem (flushed all rules/policies on IPchains).
Although I didn't reboot till 1-2 days later. emails started pouring in.

SYSTEM STATUS button was flashing in the GUI saying that the Web, FTP,
Email, and SNMP or etc were "RED" not working. But in reality they
were.

They were. I had to reboot the server once or twice. The Co-lo did a
manual
reboot from LCD. Everything went away with a reboot. WINDOWS!
hahahaha.
Sometimes I have to reboot, I have / you have no choice. You add
something to windows
you are asked to reboot. There goes 3-4 minutes downtime.

I recall using IIS and PWS in the past, installing custom DLLs and such
using
global.* and had to reboot every time we would make a change to the code
(dll),
or restart IIS.

P.S. Can someone email me off-list the suggestion on this deal:
