I have a 3i which ran perfectly for 18 months. Recently it was crashing
nearly every day (on back-up via ftp) and not rebooting as it needed to be
FSCKed. It was also showing a lot of KernelPanics. I rebuilt it as a 4i and
loaded all the patches, SSH, IPchains and PMFirewall. Right from the
beginning it has crashed on trying to back-up the sites and recently has not
let me log in (via SSL) to the GUI, although all mail and web services run
fine and I can log in via sftp and PuTTY.
Running "netstat -anp | grep :444\ " I get "tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:444 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN 685/httpd.admsrv" which looks fine.
I am now running the RaQ with a HyperTerminal session always showing on a
PC. I get a lot of errors which are not reflected in the RaQ LCD display
including one where PostgreSQL failed to start up properly! Some of what I
see in the terminal connection logs are:
Block bitmap differences
Free blocks count wrong for group #123
eth0: Invalid EEPROM checksum 0x40ab, check settings before activating this
device!
Shutting down NFS lockd: ERROR!
Shutting down NFS statd: ERROR!
kmem_free: Bad obj addr (objp=df3ebcc0, name=vm_area_struct)
I do not know how many of these are different to the norm, or are because of
loading a 4i image on a 3i, or are signs of imminent hardware failure! I can
send some HyperTerminal logs if those are of use for diagnostics...
