I own 3 of these - I've had to reformat 5 times, lost one completely, and
have lost every customer I've ever had the misfortune to host on
one. I've updated using Cobalt issued updates and blown away the
interface doing so.
Nope, can't say that I do. I love mine. They beat winblows machines hands down. I've owned both Raq3's and Raq4's, have 2 Raq4's now. I've had my share of problems, but none to compare with the insanity of trying to manage the Win2K servers I'm also responsible for. Regardless of how 'plug and play' these boxes SEEM to be, ownership of a Raq requires some expertise. I've been a part of this group for a couple of years now, and without exception the folks who provide the most help are the ones who don't exactly follow Sun's admonitions to 'stay out of the OS or you'll void your warranty'. Tweaking your own Raq to make it do what you want (and to cover your a$$ when you screw up) is part of the game. Sun knows it, and most everyone here seems to know it. If you don't know what you're doing, ask for help, get a different box, or pay someone to manage it for you.
Don't like Raqs? Go get yerself a bright shiny Dell running Win2K and have fun!
Wanna sell yours? I'd love to have a couple more (seriously).
