AW: [cobalt-users] [raq4] mail log file

Hello again,

This file should have all logged information about the mail - transfer
on you machine.

Sometimes the older log files get packed into zip files to save some
space.

They should be also located in /var/log

Try to type:


ls -all /var/log/mail*

You should see something like that:

-rw-------   1 root     root       737583 Apr 21 23:30 /var/log/maillog
-rw-------   1 root     root        67927 Apr 21 04:07
/var/log/maillog.1.gz

maillog.1.gz contains the old log files. To view them, copy them to you
home or temp location and uncompress them:


cp /var/log/maillog.1.gz /tmp
cd /tmp
gunzip messages.1.gz

joe message.1	(to edit the file)
tail -n 1000 message.1	(to view the last 1000 lines)
cat message.1 | grep jean  (This will show you every line of the file
that cotains the word jean)

Yes right, but this one is not the complet log, do you know where I can

Hi Jean - Christophe,

Cou could try to connect to you box by ssh or telnet and view
/var/log/maillog by typing:

joe /var/log/maillog

or if you only want to see the last 1000 lines:

tail -n 1000 /var/log/maillog

I'm quite new with the cobalt system, and I'm looking after the place
where
I can find the complete email log file, or all the log files from all
the
domains I'm hosting, because in the server management I have only the
top20
!
