Here in Riverside, California, borderline desert, I could buy 256 mb
sticks from brand-name vendors, in the under $50 range at CompUSA and at
Office Max. Adverts running in this morning's Sunday paper. And imho,
this area is NOT known for the best prices.
The disadvantage, of course, is that I'd be switching vendors from
system to system.
We buy memory from the same mail-order vendor each time, as we upgrade
all systems to 512 mb. Unfortunately, since I'm not the person who does
the buying, and I don't feel like bothering the person who is on the
weekend, I can't tell you who our vendor is today.
