It makes no difference who it is to, as it does it for all
recipients.
The problem is that if the email goes into a catchall, then it is
collected by something like exchange server. Exchange server will look at
the 'to' address and because the to address is the listname it re-routes the
message back to the list server which then resends the message causing a
mail loop.
The message header from my list has the line:
for 'listname'@mydomain.com <mailto:webchat@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
as the recipient.
whereas as incoming email for my subscription to the actual
majordomo user list has:
for 'myname'@mydomain.com <mailto:myname@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
this means that exchange can route the message correctly.
