I'm from a distant planet where everyone buys decent equipment that doesn't
need a considerable amount of technical support. You may call me a
MacRaqian :) lol

No. I'm just sick of hearing your pining for tech support. That's what
webs, lists and if you're lucky, friends are for.
Open source software is not for everybody.
I have worked with programmers as far away as France, whom I correspond with
on script development. Shared my work for theirs, and done well. Every
person who is serious about open source is your support. Have you ever
heard of a Microsoft community or exposition?
I just want to officially thank all of the Cobalt engineers who contribute
their unofficial code and unofficial help. Bruce, tell me more about that
unofficial upcoming box, willya?

What have you done to attract that sort of attention? If its such a
problem, turn off FTP and Telnet, SNMP and anything else that's a security
risk. Use SSH and SFTP. Put up a firewall. Do you co-lo?

That¹s what all M$ users brag about. The head tech of the co-lo I'm at said
the same thing. I asked him how long his solitary cobalt machine had been
running. He admitted that it was two years, and the only reason he rebooted
was because a year after he started it, the box had to be moved.

That's bull. Red Hat has heavy duty support, so does Mandrake. There are
scores of *nix people out there that charge for expert assistance as well.

Just shoot me a mail offlist with whatcha got and whatcha want, and we'll
see if it fits the bill. I'm getting raq #2 sometime this week (most likely
on Friday). Also, if you want, I'll get you in touch with those expert
folks too.
