The statement on the website is required by Sun Cobalt because those
packages are created by Sun Cobalt employees in their SPARE TIME and Sun
Cobalt doesn't want any legal liability for them. Which is quite
reasonable. Linux distributors accepts no liability for any package on
their systems at all, And Microsoft accepts no liability for any
packages working on the system except the ones included in the Operating
System, and then only if you don't add anything else and only
immediately after installation. Even if it's a $5000 version of the
Operating System. If you add another Microsoft package to a Windows
system, and the operating system breaks, all Microsoft will do is tell
you to reinstall the Operating System from scratch. Or pay for
consulting and support. Which is exactly what Sun Cobalt tells you.

Have you read the warranty? No Sun Cobalt server shipped in the last
year has had any kind of software warranty.
