Such a juicy story, but you left out the important detail! What temperature
is your box now that it's gone up 5 to 7 degrees? The temperature depends
on more than the environment. It's affected by the server's hardware and if
it's in a rack it's affected by the servers surrounding it. So if your
server or one near it has fans that have failed or has a lot more hard drive
activity than previously the temperature will be affected. I have shells
open to a RaQ3 and RaQ4 right now, temps are 27.5 and 32 respectively.
That's fairly normal based on my experience, though I wouldn't be worried if
the box is as high as 40. I think the manual or the spec sheet states the
operating temp range.
