Actually, if you did what you said you did, it would be a violation of
the law in some jurisdictions, such as California. Whether it's a
criminal matter I don't know.

Good for you. Happens to spammers quite a bit, so they're usually ready
to move.

Yeah, I would guess a 5% success rate is about average for most thefts.
