Actually, it depends on the version. (I've posted this "trick" before")
They check in alphabetical order. If you set up an account called AAAA
it will run that account first in Outlook. In Outlook2002 I've found it
opens multiple connections at the same time for every POP/SMTP account,
so it's fast. (The maillog show the exact same second for two different
POP accounts on the server.) I'm not sure what order or how OE does it.
In the past, to get around the POPb4SMTP problem in Outlook 98 and 2000
I had identical accounts setup in the program. The POP account that is
check marked as supposed to run when Send/Receive runs was the AAAA
named account. The default sending account was not check marked to POP
the server automatically and was named ZZZZ. It would only SMTP. Since
it was last alphabetically, the AAAA account would run first, POP the
server, list the IP with POPb4SMTP, then ZZZZ would send mail and work
fine.
