If you have a good DSL company you will be OK. A large portion of my business
is installing and maintaining SOHO networks for small businesses, in the New
Haven, CT area.
We use dsl.net (sDSL 208 up to 1500 kbs) for the most part. We have some
networks running on sDSL with dsl.net that have never been down, in a two
year period of time. ($120 to $795 a month usually with 16 static ips)
The telco aDSL lines are quite good also, although they were a real pain to
begin with, and it is better to put a seperate line in used exclusively for
aDSL, keep telephones off of it. ($49.95 - static ip $85.00 per month)
We use APC backup in most installations and we have some running with APC
backup + a natural gas powered generator. The NG generators are sweet and
CLEAN.
