If you're going to drop higher RPM drives in, it's not a bad idea to monitor
the temperature reported by /proc/cpuinfo either. It's trivial to setup a
cron job that records the current date and time and temp in a log file and
fires off an email if the temp exceeds a certain level. Might not be as
cutting edge as temperature check strips (haven't seen those), but it gets
the job done.
