I did a RaQ2 to a RaQ4 migration using the CMU for a client last month. The
move was from a box at Interland in Atlanta to a data center in Texas. The
destination box was clean (no sites or users). I ran into some snags and
had to re-run the CMU on some individual sites that didn't transfer properly
or completely, migrate some files manually and I believe I had to make some
permission changes, though I'd have to check my notes. We also ran into
some DNS caching problems. I advise lowering the TTL in the DNS well in
advance. And if you find that both boxes receive email for some period of
time, I have a couple of scripts that will allow you to grab the mail off
the old server and merge it with the spools on the new server.

I've found that the CMU works pretty reliably when doing a RaQ4 to RaQ4
migration, but it hasn't been as reliable for me for migrations between
different version RaQs. Also, get familiar with meta-verify as you may need
it and make sure you grab any custom files like Apache include files, create
dumps of MySQL databases using mysqldump and backup whatever else you have
in a non-standard location.
