You should have no problem moving drive 2 (15gb) to drive 1 location,
Installing an IDENTICAL (15gb) in drive 2's location, and rebooting. Drive 2
(Now drive 1) will automatically Mirror the New Drive 2. I doubt that you
would have 15gb of usable space, since drive 2 (now drive 1) is only
partitioned (Actually via the mirror process) to think it's 12gb. The
Original drive 1 (12 gb) should be able to be installed back in drive 1
position (In the event you change your mind mid-stream and decide not to do
anything. It shouldn't matter what drive you place back in drive 2's
location since it will be re-mirrored anyway upon reboot.
If it were my machine, I'd buy two identical 40gb maxtor 5400rpm drives
(about $75 ea.) Use Ghost 2002 to clone the drive 1 data to the blank 40gb
maxtor and to expand the /home partition to it's maximum size at the same
time.(about 36gb). Then I'd install the ghost clone drive into drive 1
position and the blank 40gb drive in drive 2's location and re-boot.
(actually I've actually done this successfully)
Proceed slowly and with caution.
Let us know your course and outcomes.
Good Luck!
Jeff

So, is there a way to switch to a matching drive without loosing
everything. Would there be any way move the second (mirrored to) drive
to the primary controller and add a new one just like it and boot? And
if something goes wrong, would I be able to boot with the first drive,
putting back the original secondary drive (cleaned, of course)?

This server has 512MB memory and I believe a 12.somehing drive on IDE1
and 15GB on IDE2. Is there a way to get the model and size without
physically taking it off the rack? Maybe with some command?
I just adapted a new policy: 'this server does not get rebooted
without full current backup to another RaQ'.
