The crowning insult is that even if you overlook all of the above there
are far too many messages that are on the order of:
"Well, I am NOT running the same hardware as you are, I really don't
understand your system, but on mine I think if I had the type of problem
that you haven't described too well, I'd try this method which I have
never tried on my own system, so I can't tell you of it works at all."
So, all those plus points combined, it's no wonder the newbies don't know
where to look.
On the other hand, those who really know the answer offer a lot of help
when they post a specific reference to a problem.
