[cobalt-users] Unable to Restore RaQ - weird!

Hi,

Let me start by saying I have restored dozens & dozens of RaQ's. I'm not
really new at this.

That being said, I've got a really strange problem.

I received 5 RaQ3's (all from the same source) last night that I am in the
process of restoring from the 5-12-01 ISO.

I am absolutely unable to restore them - during the restore process, they
usually fail after the core restore is done, the start/end time is
displayed, and the RaQ reboots to begin the remaining automatic pkg updates.
The RaQ's hang with "booting" displayed on the LCD. They're truly
booting...no LCD hang errors.

The same thing happens whether I use the old HD or a brand new one. The same
thing happens on each of these 5 RaQ3's. Here's the weird part - if I take
out the old HD and install it in a BRAND NEW RaQ3 I have on hand, do the
restore on the NEW RaQ3, it completes fine. I can then remove the HD,
install it in the used RaQ3, and all is well.

Any ideas why the used RaQ3's refuse to allow a successful restore? I've
heard of intermittent problems with certain RaQ's, but to get 5 that all
exhibit this behavior is beyond coincidence.

Any insight is GREATLY appreciated!
