I am wondering if anyone got IPTables running on their Cobalt Raq 4 or 3.
I was reading a little about it in the Linux RedHat 7.2 Reference Guide
and they were describing the differences of IPChains and Tables.
IpTables is newer, more features but more tweaks where chains, has
been around for awhile and there is allot of information out there
and lots of pre-configured settings available for d/l.
I figured if I see anything bad with my access or httpd logs
than I might have to install a firewall for the RAQ.
The only downside is right now for me working so hard and
adding stuff to something that is leased or rented. The data center
still hasn't replied or called me yet to give me a price on the
Cobalt Raq 4 and have it shipped out to Cali.. maybe they changed
their mind.
Why I am asking is because ipTables has lots of extra features
than ipChains but than much harder to learn especially with no
background in any of them.
This is off-topic but I always wanted and still want to try
SmoothWall firewall but no machine to test on... maybe I can
convince and do it at work. We only have a SMC Router
where i blocked I think 5190 and all the IRC chat ports and such.
I think one guy called in sick 2 days in a row because
he got cut off... from his chat rooms.
