Re: [cobalt-users] Customizing Default Homepage

At 02:16 PM 1/29/2002, you wrote:
I've been working on customizing the default homepage that is created for
each virtual site and pretty much have what I want except for some things.

I want to be able to also have the following information included on the
page for each client but am not sure how to call it.

1)Document root: (ie: /home/sites/siteXX/web)
2)IP: if applicable
3)Clients main login username (as client will choose their password but we
will assign their login)

This will make my life easier if I can automate this information to be
included in the default page and can just send out an email for the client
to reference the page.

thanks

Sounds interesting but ....
If you are going to send an email to them, why don't you create a template for your email and just change the site number and user id when you send it?
After all, the default page is nothing but a place holder.
They probably need more help configuring their ftp client. ie setting the default remote directory to /web so they will get to the correct place.
Told where to get a ftp client if they don't already have one.

Are you only going to send to site admin's or everyone? Everyone doesn't have access by default to the /web directory for a site. They only have access to their web directory. Most site admins end up in their own directory instead of the site /web directory.

Just a few other things to think about. Sorry I didn't really answer anything you asked.
