Re: [cobalt-users] HELP HELP su login not working (passwd incorrect error)

Yes, there are 2 options.

1: Remove the harddrive from the unit, and connect it to another *nix box. Mount /var and clean it. 2: Connect a console cable to serialport 1, and reboot. When it says "Press space for ??" press space. Then type boot, you will go to the boot menu. Then type: set_params "single", then type: bfd and the unit will boot in single usermode. And you will get a simple rootshell. Then cleanout the /var, and reboot. Whoop, back in business :)

We have a Raq3 where the var dir is full....Cannout su as it says the password is incorrect.(eventhough it was never changed)....Looked at Cobalt site and the suggestions they have is a OS restore...

Is there ANY other way to go in and clean var out so that su can log back in???
