We're happy to take domain registrations without name-servers. But to
get them into the root nameservers we have to have nameservers, so we
use ours, and point the domain to OUR free-parking pages. More
advertising for us.

I imagine that's what all the registrars do who accept registrations
with DNS since you can't get domains into the root servers without it.

Additionally, we've had problems when companies have abandoned
registrations and disappeared, and we've tried to kill a DNS server and
their domain was pointing to it; if we send a letter to the registrar
(we've only had to do this with Network Solutions) explaining that the
domain is pointing to you without your permission, they will delete the
DNS, and in so doing, delete the domain from the root servers.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I did know about eight, because that's
what I've used.
