Minor addition: Most HTTP/1.0 clients and servers also support
named-based virtual hosting now.

	telnet www.somehost.tld 80
	GET http://www.somehost.tld/ HTTP/1.0
	Host: www.somehost.tld
	<ENTER>

Except press the "Enter" key instead of typing the last line.
