Assuming that version of XML::Parser will break the Cobalt GUI, the best
solution is to install a 2nd copy of Perl, with all of the Perl modules you
need. Since you'll install the 2nd Perl in a path totally independent from
the existing Perl install, you won't break anything.

I have not installed OpenSRS yet, but anytime software requires dependencies
that break or conflict with other software you can install the dependencies
in a different location and configure the new software to point to the new
non-standard location. There might be other solutions, but they're not as
simple.
