[cobalt-users] couldn't create pid file '/var/run/named.pid'

Hi all,

After updating DNS changes in the GUI I have been receiving the following
errors in my LogCheck reports (all related to new DNS entries).

Jan 16 13:31:05 www named[2005]: master zone "mydomain.org" (IN) loaded
(serial 2002011613)
Jan 16 13:31:05 www named[2005]: master zone "mydomain.net" (IN) loaded
(serial 2002011613)
Jan 16 13:31:05 www named[2005]: couldn't create pid file
'/var/run/named.pid'
Jan 16 13:31:05 www named[2005]: Forwarding source address is [0.0.0.0].1166

Everything is still functioning fine. I never changed "named" from "root" as
listed in the excerpt I found in the lists on this issue. Unless this was
performed by one of the many updates which I believe it was. Check out the
post below that I found. It outlines someone else having the same problem
(except they made the change themselves). Confused, any ideas?

>The changes we made to change things over to a "named" user were as
follows:
>useradd -c "Named" -u 25 -s /bin/false -r -d /etc/named named 2>/dev/null
|| :
>This creates group/user "named" and sends any connections to a null device.
>Then we changed the two "daemon named" references in /etc/rc.d/init.d/named
>to the following:
>daemon named -u named -g named
>Then restarted everything and it seems to work like a charm, short of this
>error we see in the logs when we make changes to DNS.

Again, I never made the above (snipped info) changes to my server so I am a
bit confused. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
