I just fired up my secondary DNS server after replacing a fan and I
noticed this in my logs. There are a lot of them.
Jan 8 16:51:24 ns2 named[380]: secondary zone "domain.com" expired
Jan 8 16:51:24 ns2 named[380]: hint zone "" (IN) loaded (serial 0)
Jan 8 16:51:24 ns2 named-xfer[667]: send AXFR query 0 to
2xx.2xx.1xx.2xx
Jan 8 16:51:24 ns2 named[380]: slave zone "domain.com" (IN) loaded
(serial
2001033114)
I understand that if a secondary nameserver is unable to contact the
primary nameserver for for some time, then it will "expire" the zone.
That is, it will no longer answer questions about this domain.
I find it odd that I've never seen this till after the last named
update.
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Curtis
