I am new to setting up Sub-Domains can someone help me with this issue?
*note: This is on a RAQ3
I have a domain www.ABC.com and I want to create a site called XYZ.ABC.com
in the Server Management console www.ABC.com is already set-up and working
at ip 213.23.23.23 , I add virtual site XYZ.ABC.com with the following
settings;
IP address: 213.23.23.23 (same as site www.ABC.com?)
Host Name: XYZ
Domain Name: ABC.com
Accept email: no
Web Access by Domain: no
CGI: yes
SSL: no
My understanding is that the main site www.ABC.com has SSL enable therefore
only one site with the same IP can have SSL. Also, www.ABC.com has MX
records to handle email for ABC.com and I want users of XYZ.ABC.com to get
their email at user@xxxxxxxx
In DNS server settings for ABC.com I have the following entries:
1. ABC.com to 213.23.23.23
2. www.ABC.com to 213.23.23.23
3. mail.ABC.com to 213.23.23.23
4. 213.23.23.23/24 points to ABC.com
5. ABC.com mail is sent to High priority mail server mail.ABC.com
So do I make an entry?
6. XYZ.ABC.com to 213.23.23.23
I would like to set up this sub-domain without assigning another IP, is that
possible? What steps am I missing?
The domain ABC.com was registered by a client at Namesecure and we had them
point it to our server at IP 213.23.23.23, do we need to register the
XYZ.ABC.com with them also?
Thanks,
Bob
