Hello List,

I am myself really interested into this and I hope you'll publish your
result if you happen to succeed.

An idea (maybe really stupid): does a Linux machine HD need something
like a Master Boot Record or equivalent to boot ?

Another idea: did you try using some software like Ghost (I am not
sure this one still exist) but it used to create an exact mirror of a
drive onto a new drive and I think it was possible to mirror on a
bigger drive. It was running on a Win machine but could duplicate
Linux drives. There is also a thread (look for "backup methods" in the
archive) about using Drivecopy from Powerquest.

Also in the archive if you search for "80 Gb Maxtor HD in a Qube II"
there is a post of somebody who did succeed in installing but had pbm
having the Qube recognize the 80gig (was seeing only 13gig). I didn't
see an answer but I think our kernel limit is 32gig.

There was also something about installing a 2nd HD outside of the box
(just to duplicate) but I couldn't find this one (does the QubeII IDE
controller support more than one HD ? maybe some Sun techie could
answer that ?)

HTH and if you find out let us/me know (I am interested in method and
exact type of HD used).
