Jay: I had found RaqBackup.sh and was looking into using that for the
transfers. I have also been searching the lists and gathering a list of CMU
info so I could be prepared. I assume on the Chilisoft stuff you are
referring to the DSN's?
Is the faq you referred to the one on the cobalt site? What 'manual stuff'
should I expect? I swear I have been searching the archives, and I haven't
found much relating to CMU... at least nothing definitive. Just getting my
ducks in a row and gathering all info I can before proceeding. Any help or
additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and posted as a whole
back to the list for future use).

The manual for CMU is at http://www.cobalt.com/pdfs/migration.utility.pdf
(but you probably already found that).
The RaqBackup.sh manual is at
http://www.neuhaus-internet.de/cobalt/raqbackup/ (ditto).
There is no formal FAQ that I'm aware of (even though I referenced one
earlier). There are, however, many Frequently Asked Questions that can be
found on the Archives of this list. If you're not using the Google Advanced
Search facility to search the archives, you're probably missing quite a few
entries. Go to http://www.google.com/advanced_search and enter 'cobalt.com'
in the domain field to search the list archives.
A few things I ignored because I didn't have a choice (and it all worked
anyway):
1. Shutting down all of the virtual sites and mail server. This was not an
option for me, so I ran Raqbackup/CMU on my live Raq3.
2. Having both machines on the same network. Again, not an option, and
besides, the internet is a network, right? lol. I did, however, add a
step. I ran the utility on the Raq3, then FTP'd the tar'd files to my
desktop machine. When I was sure I had a good copy of everything, I FTP'd
them to the new machine, then ran the CMU restore from there.
Final advice - do your homework and read everything you can find in the
archives. There are quite a few negative comments out there about CMU, but
in my case (and it sounds like you are in a similar situation) it made sense
to at least try it. If I completely hosed the new box, I could restore it
to new and start over 'the long way'. It it worked (and it did) I'm the
hero.
Print off every status screen you can find (if you have WebMin on the old
box, you can get much more detailed info on your setup.) and be ready for an
8 to 10 hour day. If you prepare properly and take the time to understand
the process you'll be home in time for dinner.
Good Luck!
