Well, after MUCH trial and error I have finally got the web based backup
utility to work when backing up all server, files, and e-mails. Used to be
when I tried this it would time out. And of course, I found out by accident.
I disabled the ftp and telent servers using the web based admin utility. I
did this because my server was hacked into BIG TIME, and I only enable them
when I need them. I know the risks to this, but it helps my security some.
This server is mine, and none of my users use FTP. Once I replaced the
server and re-installed my sites I decided to get this web based backup
working.
ANYWAY, once telnet and ftp servers are shut down, the backup utility works
like a champ. I have no idea why this is, but it has now worked every time
for the past week and my files for backup are over 200 meg and growing.
So the process is, I go into admin (web based), shut down ftp and telnet,
then start the backup. Once done, I re-enable ftp and telnet servers. This
process has worked every time.
Try it, and let me know if you have the same experience.
