On the Raqs, make is installed in /usr/bin. If you install GNU Make, it
will install into /usr/local/bin. So once it's installed make sure you
rename /usr/bin/make to something else and that /usr/local/bin is in your
path. Then logout/login again and you should be using the new one.

Hello, I have 'make' installed and gmake, both version 3.77
I need make version 3.8+ to install freetype2 font engine ( I need support
to make dynamic images in php using ttf fonts)
anyway, how do I (I read documentation at gnu/asked first, no reply so I
come here afterwards, just fyi) install the new make
(I can find the tarball) ?
Can I just do an
untar
cd to dir
./configure
make
make install?
Using my 3.7 version of make?
I just need to re-install make on the raq 3
so I can get php/gd/free type up
Thanks
