Some folks get an extra raq at lets say, rackshack or cobaltrack and
automatically back up to those servers. Rsync/FTP are some of the many
ways to accomplish this task. Automatically switching your site can cause
problems if your primary DNS also goes down. There are monitoring
services out there that can page your or e-mail you when your server is
down, some charge a fee and some are free, see the archives for that.
