Majordomo Gurus!
I have one domain that is using majordomo (1.94.4) on a Raq3. They
use it as an announce only service, sending only about one message a
week. They would like to archive the old announcements in a way that
would allow new subscribers to have access to them. If you can tell
me how to do this, you may ignore the rest of this post.
I have seen a "put" command in the standard majordomo documentation.
I cannot seem to get this to work, or find any reference to it on the
Raq3. Does anyone have experience with this command using "put" with
the standard Cobalt implementation?
To help me understand what is going on, I purchased Managing Mailing
List from O'Reilly, but a lot of the commands seem to be missing or
do not work as advertised. When I looked at the majordomo.config
file for the domain, it states that "archives" are not implemented.
I see a "files" directory that I assume holds the files that respond
to the "get" and "index" command. However, there is no "put"
command. I would like to turn on archiving, but I don't know how. I
tried ftping to the "files" directory as "admin", but I was told that
I did not have permission to write to the "files" directory. Since I
am not very Linux literate, I do not know how to find out who has
permission to write to this directory. What I want to do is very
simple, but it seems that at every turn I encounter an obstacle that
I don't how to respond to. I would blow away the Cobalt
implementation, but I am hesitant due to my limited Linux experience.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
