Hi Joseph,
I just finished renumbering our network here just last week.
That's the fourth or fifth time I've renumbered a network in the
past 5 months... practice makes perfect :-)
I strongly recomend that you set the network settings for
your Cobalt from the front panel. The instructions on how to do so
can be found in your user's manual. If you don't have one you can
download a PDF formatted copy at http://www.cobalt.com/
Make sure you have the correct netmask for your new network
and just punch it in, along with the IP address itself, from the
front panel. I've never bothered to figure out why you might have to
do this sometimes after entering an IP address for the network
settings, when a mistake was made - as it appears you may have
done, I've found that I sometimes have to put another IP address in
it's place, then reboot the machine, and then put the correct
information back in before it will work correctly.
I've also found that network changes go best when I stick my
tongue out the left side of my mouth and sing "I'm a little tea
pot...", in Yiddish, while I punch the network numbers in.
Peace be with you,
Brent Sims
