´look into your access.cong file and search for the following:


# This controls which options the .htaccess files in directories can
# override. Can also be "All", or any combination of "Options", "FileInfo",
# "AuthConfig", and "Limit"

here you change

AllowOverride None TO  AllowOverride All


and out-comment the following lines with a #

# ignore .ht*
#<Files ".ht*">
#deny from all
#</Files>

then restart your server :) and everything works fine

OK, I did that, ran #httpd restart it and it still does not seem to
function.  Do I need to add

AccessFileName .htaccess

to the httpd.conf file, and if so, where?  (searching for it reveals it
does not exist in that file or in access.conf)
