Just an FYI:

We managed to avoid using SNMP (it gave us a headache trying to figure out a
secure configuration). The traffic data is taken from the /proc/net/dev
file instead.

I don't know if it handles multiple IPs out of the box. For the scripting
gurus out there, it's a fairly trivial task to make MRTG graphs out of *any*
data in the /proc directory (load averages, processes, open connections, and
swap memory would be nice).
Perhaps a weekend project :-)
