There is no guarantee that true static IPs won't change either, as they did
within the last 2 weeks on my colocated server...

I cannot see any reason why I couldn't run DNS on the backup server, just as
on any other server. Like I said, the IP address is 'fixed' (obtained
through DHCP matching a specific MAC address and never changes). Unless I
am wrong, the only difference will be the setup for the ethernet interface.

Thanks for the tip. That was the same conclusion I came to. Looks to me
like /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.master (on my RaQ3) is
already set up for DHCP, so I'll just need to make a few changes in the ifup
& ifdown scripts, then cp ifcfg-eth0.master overtop of ifcfg-eth0. Since
the RaQ4 will be here in my office, I can always use the front panel to
reset the network settings, or if nothing else works, use the OS Restore CD.
Well, I guess I will find out in a week or so when the server is scheduled
to arrive...
