The folder that you put it in doesn't matter, as far as I can tell with the tests that I've done. What matters is that you get the ram file correct so that it tells the browser to connect via rtsp or whatever format you're using.
If you use RealProducer's ability to 'publish a web page' and fix the paths for it, upload it and the file, you're all set.
The port on the machine is the same no matter whether it's the main site on the server or a virtual site. Any virtual site can use any port on the machine as if it were their own.
Again, AFAIK. It works for me on a virtual site. I made a test file and used the publish web page feature, changed the paths and uploaded everything - the file starts streaming immediately rather than downloading a tiny bit and then playing (like it does with http streaming).
