I've set up a RaQ3 to function as a slave nameserver. I'm still at the
process of testing it, but have come across a problem.
The master ns has a host some-domain.com which it also serves web-content
for (i.e. the server functions both as a nameserver and web-server). I have
updated the named.conf on the slave, but when I try to send email to users
within the zone some-domain.com, I get the error message "User unknown". The
user does exist (on the master). It appears the slave is of some reason
searching for the user locally, as messages are not bounced from the
master's mail-server. The error message appears immediately when I try to
send email via mail or pine. The mail program exists and then saves the
message to ~dead.letter (on the slave).
There are no other references to some-domain.com on the slave than in the
dns. A user with the same username does not exist on the slave. Doing a dig,
nslookup states the correct IP of some-domain.com, suggesting the problem is
not in the dns itself. I can ftp and ping the domain from the slave.
All other domains tested (that are served on the master) do not have the
above mentioned problem. Only if the recipient user does indeed exist do I
get the "No such user" message, but then contained in a bounced email
message as expected.
I am perplexed. Anyone got a clue?
